About the Random Number Generator

Generate a random number between any two values, or a whole list of them. Choose the minimum, the maximum and how many numbers you need, then decide whether duplicates are allowed and whether the list should be sorted. It is ideal for raffles, lottery picks, classroom activities, sampling and games.

How to use the Random Number Generator

1. Enter the minimum and maximum numbers (negative numbers work too).
2. Choose how many numbers you want, up to 1,000.
3. Tick "No duplicates" and "Sort low to high" if you need them.
4. Press Generate, or use a preset such as 1-100 or 6 of 49.

How random are the numbers?

The numbers come from the Web Crypto API, a cryptographically secure random number generator built into every modern browser. The generator also uses rejection sampling, a technique that removes the small bias found in many simple random number tools, so every number in your range has exactly the same probability.

Picking numbers without duplicates

Turn on "No duplicates" when each number may only appear once, for example when drawing raffle tickets or lottery numbers. The tool checks that your range is big enough: you cannot pick 10 different numbers between 1 and 5. With duplicates allowed, each number is picked independently, like rolling a die several times.
